last night charlie poured an entire box of oatmeal down the kitchen a/c vent. this is a big "no no" in our house because it has happened several times - though usually with toys (32 of them last time- literally). even still, it was late, we were tired, so we didn't make a big deal about it. bryan just told him to tell me he was sorry, but he wouldn't. a few minutes after he was in bed we heard him wailing. i went in to see what was wrong and as soon as i walked in the door he said, "sorry mom". i scooped him up and told him it was ok, that i forgived him. through many tears and sniffles he said, "mom, i cry in my bed because i not tell mom i sorry".
melt.
i was dumbfounded for quite a while, so thankful that his little 2 1/2 year old heart was so tender. my prayer is that it will remain this way ~ though that it will never be out of fear of disapproval from us, or others. good grief, how deep is our love for him!
it reminded me of another love i know. of a Father who loves me no matter how many messes i make. who melts when i repent, though his love never wavered...
