snow day

we woke up this morning as usual - to sam crying just as the sun was peeking over the horizon. bryan peered through the blinds like a giddy school boy, but nothing. i wasn't too disappointed though. we had been stuck in the house with colds for too long anyway.

so we got up and did the normal stumbling around and grunting 'til we got our coffee...though there was no coffee this morning. but not to worry, a dear friend gave me a starbucks gift card for christmas. so, i loaded my pj clad boys in the car and went through the drive through. i may have to make it more more regular field trip - i was actually able to stay seated until my cup was finished! the boys were thrilled too with "chocat" milk and "the wheels on the bus" on repeat.

i then decided we would go to the grocery store for v-day necessities like chocolate chips and eggs (though it's not a chocolate omelet that i am making...). on our way out it was, as predicted, snowing. the boys were mesmerized. my favorite quote of the day was from charlie, "look sam! that's called snow"!

when we got home we suited up and headed out. it was too wet for snowballs, so we tromped through the few little trees in the back "like dora". but the fun didn't last long. as soon as i pulled out my camera it all went downhill.....

evidently this car isn't big enough for two baby butts. one is always left, ahem, out in the cold.

and it is usually this little guy. today it didn't even matter if he had lost a mitten.

and then it wasn't long before this happy face

was in tears too because his hands got wet and cold.

but it was nothing that a warm bubble bath couldn't cure.

it was much more their speed. and i think mine too (at least when daddy's not home to join the "fun")!

fun days, the car reminds me of Jamie getting a car like that for his birthday. Ashley jumped in and stiff armed jamie. I think he got to play in his car when Ashley went home. those were fun days too!

ya know I have Jamies cowboy boots on a shelf, well you will have to put those green boots out somewhere.
